MYC Spring Recital 2011

Another recital has come and gone and my students were pretty amazing!!!  I divided my students into 2 recitals, one at 2:30pm and then other at 4:00pm.  Each student had a solo song to perform and then also performed a class rhythm ensemble.  We heard songs like “On Top of Spaghetti”, “CanCan”, “Minuet in D”, “Firetrucks”, “Music Class is Over”, “Barkey’s Boogie” and so many more – 43 in total!!!  The Moonbeams 3 class played an ensemble on the chimes, “Pachelbel’s Canon” and then they received their special MYC medals for graduating the Music for Young Children program, each engraved with their name and their graduation year.

I was really proud of each and every student as they came up to play and did it with such confidence!  They made their song their own and you could see how proud they were as they finished it (and how proud their beaming parents were too!)  There were first year students that this was their very first time ever playing in front of someone who wasn’t their family and then there were ‘veterans’ where this was their third year and they knew what to expect, but it doesn’t make the nerves any less jumpy!

Congrats my 2010-2011 MYC Students!

I had a great year with each one of you and for those of you returning I can’t wait to see you back in classes.  For those of you who will be going in other directions, I’ll miss you – and hope that whatever you do you will always remember the fun we had learning music in class (oh, and what you actually learned too – hehehe!)
