It’s so hard to believe that it’s this time of year again – time sure flies! We’ve been having a lot of fun in class creating our compositions and I’m loving what I’m hearing! I love hearing the new techniques that we’ve been learning this year incorporated in their masterpieces.
This year I’m asking that photocopies of the final copy to be handed in as I would hate for something to happen to your child’s original. I love keeping my children’s original copies and being able to look at them and see how they have progressed throughout the years.
All the compositions are due the week of February 20 – 23. For extra manuscript paper or critters for Sunshine 1 you can always go here. The guidelines for each level are on that page as well.
Before you hand in your photocopied final copy I’m just asking that you double-check your composition for the following:
1. All mistakes are cleaning erased.
2. Make sure you have a title.
3. Make sure the student printed their own name.
4. Make sure that you have dynamics.
5. Make sure that you have indicated your tempo.
6. Remember to line up all the notes/chords with the treble clef & bass clef counterparts correctly.
7. Make sure all bar lines go from the top of the treble clef to the bottom of the bass clef.
8. Make sure that you only write your time signature once (at the beginning of the song) in both the treble and bass clefs.
9. Make sure that the key signature is before the time signature at the beginning of the song, and at the beginning of each line.
10. Make sure that there are the right amount of beats in every bar (treble AND bass)
11. Double check the direction of your stems.
12. Make sure you have a stop sign at the end of your song (double bar lines).
Have fun with your compositions and I can’t wait to hear your finalized pieces!!!
