MYC International Composition Festival 2017

News Release

All our Riverside South MYC students participated in this year’s Composition Festival and we had such fun listening to all the songs that your children created – even the song titles were so unique from titles such as “Jello in D Minor”, “My Sad But Then Happy Song”, “Naverinch”, “I Couldn’t Think of A Name”, “Notes (That Sound Good Together)” to “December Rain”, “Snow Days”, and “The Hockey Game”. Emma and I want to tell each child how proud we are of what they accomplished – and for some it was their very first composition!

We wanted to say a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Izzie Smith in the Moonbeams 1 class for receiving an HONORABLE MENTION for her song, ‘Dancing on Ice’. This is Izzie’s first composition! Click on the video below and you will be able to hear her song.

All students will be receiving a HUGE sticker at the end of the year to recognize all the hard work that went into completing their compositions.  A picture of what it will look like is just below.

Every year I look forward to the Composition Festival as I love being able to see how the students hear music in their heads and are able to let all of us peak in for a moment and hear what they hear.  You should all be very very proud!!!
